چکیده

Osteoid osteomas are self-limiting, benign, bone-forming neoplasms.1,2 First described by Jaffe in 1935,3 these lesions are common and account for 10 to 12% of all benign bone tumors. These lesions almost always occur in patients younger than 30 years, are more common in males than females (approximately 2 to 1 ratio), and over 50% of the time are foundwithin the metaphysis or diaphysis of long bones. Such lesions can be extremely painful, and the classic presentation involves a young patient with night pain in the tibia or femur that is relieved with oral salicylates. The presence of an osteoid osteoma in a periarticular or intra-articular location about the knee is rare. Osteoid osteoma of the knee may present with nonspecific complaints including knee pain, stiffness, effusions, and atrophy. Depending on the clinical setting, these symptoms could represent a variety of different diagnoses, includingmeniscal pathology, chondral pathology, synovitis, or Plica syndrome. Radiographic findings are often normal, and advanced imaging is required for diagnosis and treatment. Although intra-articular osteoid osteomas have been described, there remains a paucity of case reports

Elbow Stiffness Secondary to Elbow Joint Osteoid Osteoma, a Diagnostic Dilemma

We present a 23-year-old man with distal humerus osteoid osteoma referring to our hospital with pain and progressive stiffness. The patient has been suffering from the disease for two years without a certain diagnosis. The radiographies of elbow did not reveal the pathology but further CT scan and MRI studies demonstrated the tumor. The en block resection of the tumor resolved the pain immediat...

Arthroscopic Excision of an Intraarticular Osteoid Osteoma in the Distal Femur

An intraarticular osteoid osteoma of the knee is uncommon, and its treatment is challenging. The authors present a case of arthroscopic excision of an intraarticular osteoid osteoma in the distal femur, which was accessible through the knee joint. After confirming the nidus of the osteoid osteoma by computed tomography, the lesion was completely removed arthroscopically. The patient reported co...

Relationship between Femoral Intercondylar Notch Narrowing on Radiography and Anatomical and Histopathologic Integrity of Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Patients Undergoing Total Knee Replacement Surgery

Abstract Introduction: The presence of cruciate ligaments are very important for normal knee kinematics. Knee arthroplasty prostheses, in which these ligaments are maintained, have better kinematics. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between femoral intercondylar notch narrowing in radiography and clinical and histopathologic integrity of anterior cruciate li...

Arthroscopic Ablation of Osteoid Osteoma in the Wrist

Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor that rarely involves joints. Although there are several reports of arthroscopic osteoid osteoma excisions, to our knowledge, there are no reports of this type of treatment for osteoid osteoma in carpal bones. We report two cases of arthroscopic (a person who had a pain in the left wrist and the other one with carpal tunnel syndrome) with excision of oste...
